Congratulations—get ready to hear some awesome music for your project! But first, I need a little help from you to make this whole process go smoothly. Let’s talk about my delivery requirements.
I need 3 key things from you (or your editor) in order to start working:
1) Please send me an HD version of your film, maximum 720 or 1080. I am not able to use a higher resolution than that.
2) Burn in the timecode onscreen at the bottom of the frame. The timecode should start with the hour 01, with the first frame of your film reading: 01:00:00:00. For example, the below screenshot is 20 seconds and 20 frames into the film and has the onscreen timecode towards the bottom.
3) Please make stems! What are those, you ask? Stems are separate audio files that contain specific audio elements of your film. So, I need one audio file that is just Dialogue and Sound Effects, and another that is just Temp Music.
It's very important that the Temp Music is separate from the Dialogue, otherwise I can’t do my job. It's also vital to make sure the stems are the exact same length as your film. If they aren’t, things can get out of sync and and we really don’t want that!
In the above example, you can see the dialogue is separate from the music. Plus, all three files (video, dialogue and music) are the exact same length.
And there we have it! Of course, if you have any questions feel free to give me a call or shoot me an email. As long as we’re on the same page this project should go off without a hitch.
Once I receive the above elements from you, I’ll start making some music!
